Do you hate me?

This bank holiday weekend I am very much looking forward to taking a break from chopping down trees in my back garden. This activity has pretty much occupied all of my time during the previous two weekends. It needed doing desperately though. I don’t know why anyone plants Leylandii other than to piss off their neighbours - in all honesty I suspect that is the reason that they were in my garden (from previous owners of the house).

After a couple of weekends of lopping and sawing, and many many tip runs by Louisa to remove the massive pile of branches I was creating, we’re now down to 4 large trunks left to get rid of. I’m wondering whether this justifies a chainsaw purchase…

The one good thing about removing these is the amount of space that has been freed up in my otherwise fairly small garden. We’re now thinking about what herbs and veggies might do well in the garden. I supect this year we’ll concentrate on container growing, and try and get the ground ready for a bit more adventurous planting up next year. Since I lost access to an allotment, in what we might simply call The Event, it will be good to get some edibles growing again.
